When building your brand, we all know that custom photos that show your brand are the best but sometimes that’s not always feasible. That’s where stock photos come in.

A quality image can make all the difference when creating your marketing. Great lighting and composition can set you apart and look more professional. Many of you may search Google for your images but that’s never a good idea because those photos are often owned by someone else and not to be used for commercial purposes.

I often get asked where I go for stock photos when designing a website, flyer or even social media and I want to share those sites with you! There are many websites out there that offer stock photos and I’m going to share my favorite FREE stock photo sites to get you started. Each of these sites have a slightly different feel to their photos so you can look through them and find exactly what fits your brand.

Free Stock Photo Sites

  • Unsplash – Unsplash has an artistic flair to them that I don’t see on some of the other sites. The photographers that they have create beautiful and sometimes moody photos that could be just the image that you’re looking for. They offer over three million curated photos that you can sift through.
  • Freepik – While Freepik has a host of photos for you to go through that are beautifully done, they also offer many vector based images, icons, and backgrounds to choose from. Freepik also provides an online image editor and beautiful fonts if you don’t already have image editing software.
  • Pexels – Pexels is a great resource for creatives, it offers thousands of high resolution images but it also offers video content. These can be perfect to fill in part of your website videos or when you’re creating reels on social media.
  • Rawpixel – Recently revamped, Rawpixel offers a collection of over 2 million professional images for you to go through. They offer free creative assets, editable templates, mockups and designs. There are a host of things you can do with their images and if you upgrade to premium you can utilize their editing software which is quite extensive.
  • Pixabay – Offering over 4.3 million high quality images, you’re bound to find what you’re looking for here. Not only does Pixabay have beautiful images but they also have videos and music that you can use for any of your marketing needs.

These are my top five, free, go to stock photo sites that I use when building brands. You don’t have to keep setting up photo shoots to make your brand look good. Utilize some of the free stock photos, sprinkle in your custom photos and you’ll have a beautiful visual brand for your audience.
